History of the Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Carving Championship

Back in 2000, Bob and Cindy King had a simple idea with big heart: bring world-class chainsaw carving to their hometown of Reedsport, Oregon.

What started as a local dream has grown into The Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Carving Championship - a nationally recognized event that attracts talented artists and thousands of spectators every Father's Day Weekend.

In 2011, the Oregon Festival & Events Association honored the championship with the Ovation Award for "Best Performing Art Festival in Oregon." That same year, the Oregon State Legislature officially named Reedsport: "The Chainsaw Carving Capital of Oregon." And the tradition has only grown stronger since.
